Counter Part Sales - Decatur, Illinois

Hourly wage starts at: $20.00 - Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, including skills, certifications, education, and relevant years of experience.

Work Schedule: We keep things running 7 days a week, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with team members working a rotating schedule to provide reliable coverage while maintaining a fair and balanced schedule.

Shifts may include weekends and holidays, so flexibility is important.

Parts Counter Sales Representative

As a Parts Counter Sales Representative, you’ll be at the center of the action—helping customers at the counter, supporting technicians in the shop, and assisting customers over the phone. Every day brings something different, and your knowledge, energy, and customer-service skills will help keep our operation running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be at the center of the action, helping keep customers, technicians, and our parts operation moving! In this fast-paced role, you’ll use your parts knowledge, customer-service skills, and attention to detail to make sure customers get what they need—when they need it.

• Delivering fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service to walk-in, shop, and phone customers.
• Finding the right parts and solutions by providing accurate pricing, availability, and technical information.
• Keeping orders moving by accurately processing orders, payments, returns, and credits.
• Tracking down hard-to-find parts and coordinating urgent and emergency orders when customers need them most.
• Supporting outside sales representatives with quick, accurate, and reliable order fulfillment.
• Keeping the parts counter organized and customer-ready, creating a clean, professional, and welcoming environment.
• Creating sales opportunities by recommending related products, promoting specials, and following up with customers by phone and email.
• Working as part of a team to keep the parts department running efficiently and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ year of experience in automotive, heavy-duty truck, industrial, or related parts sales
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
• Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and meet Nextran Corporation’s driver qualification and insurability requirements
• Comfortable with technology and able to use computers and electronic applications for recordkeeping, communication, scheduling, transactions, and other job-related functions
• Strong communication skills with a genuine customer-first mindset
• Positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to jump in, help the team, and get the job done
• Able to stay organized and focused while managing multiple customers and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Sharp attention to detail with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Team-oriented and dependable, with a willingness to support customers, technicians, and fellow team members

Physical Requirements

This is an active role for someone who likes to stay moving:

• Hands-on work handling, reaching, and organizing parts
• Regular walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
• Lifting requirements:
  • Regularly lift up to 25 lbs
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
• Good close-up and distance vision to keep things accurate and efficient
